OLIVE Garden has explained a bill policy that left some customers feeling rushed.

A spokesperson for Darden Restaurants, the owner of the Italian chain, told The U.S. Sun that the policy is actually intended to have the opposite effect.

The spokesperson was responding to questions from The U.S. Sun regarding a viral video posted by an Olive Garden diner.

The diner claimed she felt rushed in the restaurant because the bill came before she had finished her meal.

In the clip, you can see the diner still has a whole bowl of soup left as she had asked for a refill.

Several other diners took to the comments to say they had felt the same.

A Darden spokesperson said Olive Garden never wants diners to feel rushed and instead wants them to feel in “control.”

The spokesperson told us: “We never want a guest to feel rushed while dining at Olive Garden.

“Our goal is for our guests to have control of their dining experience and not have to wait on us.

“We want to get guests their food as quickly as possible, offer as many refills as they like, and then give them the ability to pay when they are ready.

“These efforts are not new and are intended to reduce unnecessary waiting, not limit the time guests spend enjoying their meal.

“We encourage any guest who feels their experience was not up to their expectations to let us know so we can make it right.”

The Olive Garden website has a contact form that diners can use to let the chain know about their experience.
